Steve Leggat's portfolio of graphic design and web-design

A few choice projects

Another Visitor.. Stay A While...

Quite to my surprise I've been linked to by some very nice design sites, namely CSS Remix, CSS Mania , CSS Bloom (see a trend here?) and WebCreme, and frankly I'm feeling pretty chuffed.

To be honest, I was unprepared for my little portfolio to get any attention at all. This site took about a week to throw together and it has been online for just one week. A little baby. I thought I'd hold off a few more days to tidy things up before doing any sort of promoting but somehow word got out, and well, here you are. Damned good of you to come too! I've had some great feedback about the site (thanks Mum!) and I'm keen to hear what made you visit www.steveleggat.com and stick around long enough to read this post. Flick me an email.

I hope you'll bookmark the site, tell your mates to visit and think of me when you need a freelance designer (assuming you're not already one!).

Anyway, thanks heaps for coming. Stay a while, stay foreverrrrr.

Impossible Mission

Update #1: I've also been added to Styleboost, a site that I've been a big fan for many years. This means a lot, especially after reading the comment: "The portfolio of New Zealand born graphic designer Steve Leggat is sparkling with its vivid colors and sharp work. It's a great example of what's needed to draw my attention to a portfolio site. The presentation is clean and simple without being boring". Styleboost!!

Update #2: Also listed in Phil Renaud's succinctly named 35 Sexiest Designed Websites you've Forgotten, part 3, which is bloody awesome! Phil says "Strong pastels and contrast shades, excellent typography, and may I just say: one of the finest portfolios of the bunch". Woah! The article also made it to the front page of Digg. Lots of traffic! Thanks Phil!!

Update #3: Also check out who's at the top of the list over at Smashing Magazine's 50 Beautiful CSS-Based Web-Designs in 2006. Awesomeness!!

Out with it lad

I am a freelance graphic designer / web developer with over 14 years experience within the industry. I was a founding director and designer at Styrofirm, one of New Zealand's leading creative agencies for 6 years, an experience which was great fun and broadened my expertise immensely.

If you're looking for a hard working, skilled and very down-to-Earth designer then look no further.

  2. Contact me about a design project
  3. Read more about me

What's my vibe?

I dismissed Twitter early on because I couldn't see any benefit to reading what people, mostly strangers to me, are doing throughout the day. I'm not totally convinced it's not a waste of my time, but it is quite interesting, in a voyeuristic way. I think the clincher for me was being able to read what some of the top designers and bloggers are up to and getting a little bit of inside knowledge on what makes them successful.

It's not always easy being a freelancer but I've garnered plenty of useful tips from Freelance Switch. I'm particularly fond of this post on great business card designs :P
